Our Favorite Tumbling Myths—Busted! 🤸‍♀️💥

Myth #1: “My child has to be naturally flexible to tumble”

BUSTED.
Flexibility helps, but it’s developed, not something you’re born with. Proper training, consistency, and age-appropriate stretching build flexibility safely over time.

Myth #2: “If they aren’t progressing fast, they aren’t good at tumbling”

BUSTED.
Progress looks different for every athlete. Strength, coordination, confidence, and body awareness all develop at different speeds. Slow progress does not mean lack of ability.

Myth #3: “Practicing skills at home will make them better faster”

BUSTED.
Unsupervised home practice often reinforces bad habits or leads to injury. Tumbling skills are safest and most effective when taught and corrected by trained coaches unless there are specific drills or stretches assigned by coaches.

Myth #4: “Once they get a skill, they’ll always have it”

BUSTED.
Skills require maintenance. Strength, technique, and consistency matter—even after a skill is achieved. It’s normal for skills to come and go during growth phases. The best way to maintain skills is consistent time in the gym without extended breaks

Myth #5: “Fear means my child isn’t ready or capable”

BUSTED.
Fear is a normal part of learning new skills. It often shows up right before a breakthrough. Coaches are trained to help athletes build confidence safely and progressively.

Myth #6: “More classes automatically mean faster progress”

BUSTED.
While time in the gym will often lead to tricks faster, that is not necessarily always the case. Sometimes the body just isn’t ready and needs time to develop and create the skill.

Myth #7: “Tumbling is all about tricks”

BUSTED.
Strong tumbling is built on basics—body control, strength, shapes, and technique. Fancy skills only work when the foundation is solid.
